Gila Bend Senior Center

The Gila Bend Senior Center is a part of the Gila Bend Community Center and provides activities, classes, exercise, and more to residents who are 60+, their spouses, and residents who are disabled.

Meal Service

Monday through Friday a nutritional meal is served at noon by staff and friendly volunteers. We also provide home delivered meal service to qualified individuals. Our suggested meal contribution is $2.00 per meal for participants 60 years old and older and their spouse. Nonseniors and guests are welcomed to have lunch with their senior friends for a fee of $4.50 per meal.

Activities & Transportation

Before lunch, enjoy a game of pool, visit while making arts and crafts, or join in with a friendly game of cards. After lunch, we offer a wild game of chair volleyball, bingo, and on special holidays, we celebrate. Other activities include walking, food programs, shopping, travel, and health related discussions and workshops.

Transportation is provided to and from the center daily. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we provide transportation to local stores and once a month we take participants to the Buckeye / Avondale area for more extensive shopping. For the convenience of our participants, a medical run to the Phoenix Metro area is provided twice a month.

Parties & Trips

Monthly parties are a time for fun and excitement. If there is no holiday that month we make one! The Senior Center also provides excursion trips to a variety of places, including museums, casinos, and desert tours. Some of our most memorable trips included a train ride down the Grand Canyon, a three-day visit to Tombstone, and a trip to San Diego. Annual trips to Laughlin are part of our regular fun and excitement.

Stop by and visit our center any time. Please make reservations 24 hours in advance by calling (928) 683-2244.
