Below are our current volunteer opportunities:
Food Distribution Program through St. Mary's Food Bank
There are several volunteer positions that need fulfillment. Time slots range from 7 AM through noon and are every Thursday at the Gila Bend Community Center. CDC COVID-19 Guidelines are to be followed along with the Maricopa County Mask Mandate, social distancing, and hygiene precautions.
- Basket In-take: Shift is from 7 to 8 AM. Responsible for tracking empty baskets.
- Assembly Line: Shift is from 8 to 11 AM (this can vary depending on the arrival of the semi-truck). Fill up baskets with different perishables and nonperishables. Able to bend, pull and lift, up to 30 pounds.
- Basket Carriers: Shift is from 8 to 11 AM (this can vary depending on the arrival of the semi-truck). Transport full basket to designated area. Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Basket Distribution: Shift is from 11 to 12 PM (this can vary depending on the arrival of the semi-truck). Track and load baskets in vehicles. Able to lift 50 pounds.
St. Mary's Food Bank requirements: Volunteer Application, a Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement, and attend a Civil Rights Training.
Please contact Ericka Amezcua at 928-683-2244 to schedule a time to meet, fill out the required documents, and receive the Civil Rights Training. An ID card will also be required.
