COVID 19 RESPONSE UPDATE FOR 3/18/20.
The Town of Gila Bend is a small, close-knit community whose members are caring and resilient. Town leadership remains engaged and is committed to maintaining public health and safety while balancing real-life needs. It is important that we all do our part.
The Town of Gila Bend will continue to take its lead from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and the Maricopa County Department of Health Services and will follow any guidelines given with the understanding that protocols will vary by locations based on area conditions.
We are taking proactive measures with regard to operating Town facilities to help protect high-risk populations and reduce risk for the spread of the virus. These measures are under constant review as new information becomes available. The Town will continue to be assertive in enforcing sanitary practices in use of its facilities
including wiping down equipment and good hygiene and we encourage our residents to be vigilant as well in theirs.
TOWN HALL
Town Hall will remain open for business with the exception of notary services.
SENIOR CENTER at the Community Center
Daily meal service will continue to be provided to our senior population 60+ and our disabled individuals. We have now staggered lunches for seniors so that no more than 10 at a time eat lunch at the center. Tables and chairs have also been spread out from one another. Tables and chairs will continue to be disinfected following every meal.
FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER
No more than 10 individuals at a time will be allowed inside the Family Resource Center to allow for the recommended social distancing.
EMERGENCY SERVICES
Fire and EMS services will be maintaining normal business operations. All first responders are provided information from the health department as it relates to the virus. Gloves and masks are carried as a matter of practice. Both departments are monitoring the situation and following stringent strict infectious disease protocols that are already in place.
