There'll be a prayer, a moment of silence, reflection of the day and the story of how Gila Bend came to be responsible for one of the rare steel beam artifacts from the World Trade Center bombing.
Keynote Speaker: Eric Landau
Mr. Landau was native New Yorker. He has resided in Arizona for last 18 years. A former Army Officer, Mr. Landau is now retired from a career in 2-way Radio Telcom services. He is also a seasoned bagpiper having been the Pipe Major for the Mesa Fire Dept. Honor Guard Pipes and Drums for the last 10 years, and also serves as the bagpiper for the Army's Arizona Recruiting Battalion and for numerous area Police Departments (he will be performing on his bagpipes at the ceremony). Mr. Landau previously served as the County Emergency Management Communications Officer for Long Island.
16 years ago, Mr. Landau was in New York on business when he inadvertently ended up being Arizona's initial 9-11 First Responder. He will recount his story entitled, Witness to Disas
